Wout van Aert becomes for the third time Worldchampion

Wout van Aert joined a very elite club this weekend when he became only the sixth rider to win three consecutive elite men's titles at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. Van Aert is the first to take three in a row since his compatriot Roland Liboton claimed his third and final rainbow jersey in 1984.

Lotto Soudal has extended the contracts with Jelle Wallays and Jasper De Buyst. Jelle Wallays (28), who rides for the team since last year, signed for three years, until the end of 2020. Jasper De Buyst (23) joined Lotto Soudal in 2015. He stays with the team until the end of 2019.

Van Aert takes second consecutive cyclo-cross world title

After a tumultuous race, Wout Van Aert extended his cyclo-cross world title in Bieles, Luxembourg. After a week with freezing temperatures, thaw came and a massive amount of rocks surfaced at the reshaped industrial area. Countless mechanical problems ruined the race in the Elite men's race, taking out Van Aert's major opponent Mathieu van der Poel, who finished as runner-up at long distance. Kevin Pauwels won the battle for third place at more than two minutes from winner Van Aert.

Wout Van Aert wins Jingle Cross World Cup

Wout Van Aert demolished the field to win the second World Cup of the season at Jingle Cross in Iowa City on Saturday. The world champion broke his toe while on his way to winning the first round at Cross Vegas on Wednesday but decided to start Jingle Cross after two recovery days. But not even an injury or an early-race mechanical could stop him from taking another solo win, this time ahead of Kevin Pauwels and Laurens Sweeck.

Roelandts takes leader jersey in Switzerland

At the Tour de Suisse Jürgen Roelandts has taken over the leader’s jersey from Fabian Cancellara. Yesterday, the Lotto Soudal rider lost the opening time trial against Spartacus with less than one second. Today, Cancellara gained an extra second advantage on Roelandts at the intermediate sprint a few kilometres before the finish. In the final sprint, won by world champion Peter Sagan, Roelandts got fifth. There was a time gap of three seconds as of the seventh place and that made that Jürgen takes the lead with one second advantage on Cancellara!
